FDM 3D Printing — AdditiveM Labs

Properties

  • Thermoplastic filament extruded layer by layer
  • Wide material range (PLA, PETG, ABS, TPU, Nylon)
  • Good strength-to-cost for functional parts
  • Visible layer lines; post-processing optional
  • Infill and wall settings tune stiffness and weight

Best applications

  • Functional prototypes and fit checks
  • Jigs, fixtures, and brackets
  • Enclosures and mounts for electronics
  • Low-volume production of plastic parts
  • Education and university research models

Cost

Typically the most cost-effective process for mid-size plastic parts. Price scales with material weight, quality, and quantity — with steep volume discounts on larger orders.

Lead time

Usually 7–10 business days including free USA shipping. Rush options available on request.

Design guidelines

  • Minimum wall thickness ~1.2 mm (prefer 1.5–2 mm)
  • Avoid unsupported overhangs steeper than ~45°
  • Add fillets at stress concentrations
  • Design clearances of 0.3–0.5 mm for mating parts
  • Orient critical surfaces to reduce stair-stepping
